SUPER EAGLES DRAW EGYPT, TANZANIA, CHAD IN 2017 AFCON QUALIFIERS

The Super Eagles of Nigeria  were drawn with Egypt, Chad and Tanzania in Group G of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying series following a draw held on Wednesday in Cairo.

The Super Eagles who are three-time winners will challenge the Pharoahs of Egypt who have a record of  being seven- time winners.

Gabon has been selected to host AFCON 2017.

Despite their great credentials , both Egypt and Nigeria failed to qualify for the finals of 2015 tournament held in Equatorial Guinea, with Egypt's last showing being at Angola 2010 where they won their seventh title.

Group B: Madagascar, DRC, Angola, CAR

Group C: Mali, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, South Sudan

Group D: Burkina Faso, Uganda, Botswana, Comoros

Group E: Zambia, Congo, Kenya, Guinea Bissau

Group F: Cape Verde, Morrocco, Libya, Sao Tome

Group G: Nigeria, Egypt , Tanzania, Chad

Group H: Ghana, Mozambique, Rwanda, Mauritius

Group I: Cote d'ivoire, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Gabon

Group J: Algeria, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Seychelles

Group K: Senegal, Niger, Namibia, Burundi

Group L: Guinea Malawi, Zimbabwe, Swaziland

Group M: Cameroon, South Africa, Gambia , Mauritania

The group winners and two best second placed teams will join the host nation Gabon in the finals.

Qualifying starts on June 12-14.
